In our latest survey, 37% of children at Hillside said they would like to cycle to school. With the right equipment, even cycling
with
young children can be easy and fun.

The equipment was bought with a grant from the Department for Transport. The aim is to encourage more children and
their parents to cycle. Some parents buy these items for themselves but others may not know what is available. And good
quality
ones can seem expensive for only a few years of use.
If you want to try cycling to school with children, we want to hear from you. You will need your own bike. We will
help you fit the seat or trailer and ask for a deposit. Preference will be given to those parents likely to make most use of the
equipment
and those who travel furthest. Loans will be renewable each month. Further

Hillside
Cycling Project Conditions of Equipment Loan
This equipment was bought by the Hillside Cycling Project with a Cycling Project grant from the Department for Transport.
It now belongs to Hillside Avenue School. The purpose of the project is to promote cycling for health and fun among pupils
at Hillside School. It is part of the Hillside Travel Plan which aims to encourage healthy travel and to reduce car journeys
to the school.
I agree to:

Take good care of the equipment, ensure that it is used responsibly, and
keep it in safe and good working order.
·
To use the equipment primarily for journeys to/ from school (although we
encourage you to use it for other appropriate trips).
·
To report promptly to the Chair of the Hillside Travel Group or the
School Office any problems with the equipment.
·
To co-operate with reasonable requests for monitoring information and
publicity.
·
Not give or lend the equipment to others.
·
Return the equipment to the school if it is not being used sufficiently
or in accordance with these conditions.
·
Provide a deposit against loss or damage. (NB This will be held by the
School Office but will not normally be cashed.)
The initial loan period is free of charge. A nominal charge may be made thereafter for further loan periods. Loans will be
reviewed termly.
I have read the fitting and safety instructions provided with the equipment. I certify that I am confident to cycle on the
routes where I intend to use the equipment provided. I accept that Hillside Avenue Primary School, its staff, governors
and parents, and the members of the Hillside Travel Group, are not responsible for any accidents or incidents arising
from use of this equipment.
